Latest update from Luxor: July 2011.
Dear Sponsors and supporters,
All the children are doing well at the project in Luxor and we hear the majority have passed their exams with flying colours. There have been two new arrivals, two baby boys joined the family early in July bringing the total number of children living at the village to 94.
Tourism is still very slow in Egypt at the moment, which has resulted in less visitors to the Project and this is having an affect on the charity who rely very much on new visitors for sponsorship and support.
On a brighter note, hopefully if all arrangements go to plan, 25 school age children will be taking a few days holiday in Hurgharda thanks to kind hearted supporters in the UK who have raised funds to send them for a seaside break in July (more information in our next newsletter).
The children truly deserve this as they have worked very hard studying to pass their exams. It is very hot in Luxor at the moment and swimming in the sea will be a great tonic before they go back to school in September.
Salma has had to give up the role as Luxor co-ordinator owing to family and work commitments, the UK are looking to replace her very soon and are in direct contact with the foundation Board at the moment.
Our UK Chairman’s letter will be out shortly to update you more on the progress of the charity, we will also make sure this is on the website too.
In the meantime thank you to all our sponsors and supporters for your continued help and support, it is so vitally important to the continuation of our work in Luxor.
Many Best wishes from all at Sunshine,
Eve Lawton –UK Co-ordinator
