Dear Sponsors and Supporters,
Since our last Newsletter, a PR team and our web designer have been working hard to bring you our new look website, they have introduced me to Facebook and Twitter, so hopefully we can begin to utilize this to bring in a wider audience and we hope you will help us to spread the word. I am reading facebook and Twitter for dummies and any tips you can give me, I would be grateful!
Some of the Directors have visited the project in Luxor and although tourism is still not very good and there are not many visitors, we are pleased to say this has not affected the children and thankfully their daily lives continue as normal. The children are well and have all been busy studying very hard this year. A few of the older girls have been busy learning to use the sewing machines with the help of staff and visitors, there has been a sudden shortage of sheets, so all systems are go, to make new ones.
The girls have also been going to The Karnack craft centre to learn local crafts and they are really enjoying doing this in their spare time. Also there has been craft workshops at the village for all of the children.
Alison Moussa has now left the Foundation board and returned to her independent role as the UK Co-ordinator in Luxor. This gives Alison more of an independent responsibility to the UK Directors and charity. The UK board work very closely with the project in Luxor, however we also work as an independent charity organisation with a responsibility not only to the welfare of children but to our future objectives and expenditure of your funds.
Alison continues to ensure we are provided with the accounts regularly from the Egyptian Foundation and co-ordinates reports and information direct from the project. Alison also attends all meetings with the Foundation Board to provide the link between UK and Egypt, this has proved most successful.
If you do get the chance to visit Luxor, please do contact Alison and she will do her best to meet up with you at the project, she is there most days for a few hours and enjoys meeting with visitors.
November of last year three of our Directors were in Luxor, during this time they visited the Good Samaritan home again, with a view to see if we can perhaps extend an helping hand to the disabled youngsters at the home there. The Directors are encouraging people to sponsor the Sunshine Project UK, this way we can not only fully support the 84 children at the village but perhaps look at ways we can help other less fortunate children too.
Please follow all our links to see how you can donate, sponsor or set up a fundraising page to help the UK charity raise funds. Email me if you would like to receive some of our new brochures and please, please spread the word!
Many thanks to all who continue to support the project, we truly value and appreciate all your help.
Eve Lawton - Co-ordinator - SunShine Project UK
