Dear Sponsors and Supporters,
The past year has seen so many changes. In Egypt we have seen an historical revolution, and all of us, every day here in
the UK, are reminded in the news of economic decline across the whole of Europe. However, in these troubled times we
hope that some of our photo's will cheer you and warm your hearts on a chilly winter's day!
At SunShine the children are growing up very fast and it is hard to believe that our two eldest children will soon be reaching
the age of full independence. In contrast, very recently three little babies have just begun their life at the village.
There are now 2 children on further education courses, 67 children attending school and 25 preschoolers in the nursery,
and attending the Kindergarten.
The children trust so much and rely on our support for their home, their education and their daily lives, and more
importantly to remain together as a family.
One Director who traveled out to the project in July, came back and her lasting thought and impression as she enjoyed
breaking fast at the village with all of the children was that 'we can never lose something so precious as this' - a thought that
goes through the minds of so many of us who have visited the children or who have been in support of the charity for so
long.
Here at Sunshine we never underestimate just how important our sponsors and supporters are in keeping SunShine going,
and we know it would not be at all possible without you. We are also very aware indeed of the commitment and loyalty that
you have given to the charity as we have come to know so many of you over the years. Although we are unable to
personally thank everyone by name in a Newsletter, please know that our appreciation to every organization and individual
is heartfelt by all at SunShine.
The UK Directors are very pleased to welcome Alison Moussa to the Project as our UK Field Representative in Luxor.
Alison, we feel, will be a great asset to the charity and we all look forward to working with her over the next few months.
The Egyptian Foundation board and all the loyal house Mothers and Fathers and staff in Luxor, have the greatest of
commitments and responsibility to the children, being there for them day and night. Many of the staff and carers work 12
hour shifts, six days a week, and also welcome the children into their own family homes during feast days. We also thank all
of them for welcoming all the sponsors and visitors and volunteers to the project over the past year, and inclUding us in
some wonderful moments shared with the children.
Most of all, we acknowledge and thank all of you for your help and support throughout 2011 and for providing a very special
place for the children, that they will always know as their home, and their family.
Our most sincere best wishes,
Chairman Anne Bates and the Directors - SunShine UK
