Marawan was born on the 23rd June 2003. He suffers from Dandy
Walker and is unable to do many of the things that his brothers
and sisters take for granted. He is unable to sit up unaided, to
crawl, walk or communicate. Marawan was recently accepted by the
Military Rehabilitation Hospital for brain damaged servicemen, unfortunately
this facility was in Cairo. Marawan had to travel to Cairo at least
three times a week. The train journey is at least 10 hours and too
stressful to be undertaken by a two-year-old so this meant 3 return
flights each week for Marawan and his carers. This not only meant
an exhausting day for Marawan, it was also proving to be very expensive
I am pleased to say that Sunshine will be opening a clinic in Luxor
shortly, which has been adapted to facilitate the necessary equipment
and in October a qualified physiotherapist: will treat Marawan on
a daily basis. The clinic will also be available to other children
in Luxor with similar disabilities.

| Despite all his difficulties Marawan is always smiling and
laughing and is greatly loved by all the family. Thanks to his treatment
he is able Ito get around in his baby walker and the movement in
his upper limbs has improved dramatically. Marawan's courage and
determination is an inspiration to us all.
